About the jewellery designer
Timeless jewellery shaped by attention
I am Jorrit ten Berg: designer, maker, and gemmologist. I create handmade, unique jewellery where material, form, and the character of gemstones come together. Each piece is carefully crafted by me, from concept to completion, ensuring design and execution are fully integrated.
With a Master's degree in Architecture from TU Delft and a diploma in gemmology from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, I combine a structural approach with deep knowledge of gemstones. I am a self-taught jewellery maker, and my custom jewellery reflects a continual exploration of form, material, and detail.
Gemstones are always my starting point, their colour, structure, and history guide the design and making process. The result is handmade jewellery that is unique, considered, and intimately connected to both material and design.
Architecture translated into jewellery
My designs are characterised by architectural clarity. Each piece is carefully constructed, with attention to proportion, balance and structure. The result is jewellery that is refined, yet possesses a clear and distinctive character.
Modernism, minimalism and Art Deco
I draw inspiration from modernism, minimalism and Art Deco. The timeless elegance of these movements is translated into contemporary jewellery. Mechanical structures, subtle textures, colour, and the play of light form the basis of my designs, giving each jewel a restrained yet distinctive presence.
A fascination with the origins of nature
At the core of my work lies an ongoing fascination with natural processes of formation. Not only the final result, but above all the time and conditions in which materials come into being, are a source of wonder and inspiration for me.
Gemstones, minerals and pearls
Gemstones formed over millions of years, minerals that refract light in unexpected colours, or pearls that grow in silence within living shells, these slow processes are framed in my jewellery, without overpowering them. Sustainability, respect for material and careful sourcing are integral to my work.
Clear luxury, personal character
For me, true luxury is found not in excess, but in clarity, craftsmanship and individuality. Each piece of jewellery is more than an adornment; it is a personal statement, created with care and respect for time, material and the beauty of natural formation.
Craftsmanship, time and individuality
In every handcrafted piece, the slow creations of nature meet the devoted hand of the maker, a quiet dialogue of structure, light and meaning.
